STEAM Conference 2019 is a half-day conference designed to expose Tomball ISD students in grades 3 - 8 to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics through: 
 
  • Hands-on activities
  • Education about majors, colleges, and careers
  • Mentoring opportunities with college students, professors, and professionals
  • Critical thinking and discussion exercises
  • Discussion on current STEAM issues
  • Concurrent sessions that allow students to learn about all disciplines of STEAM

Math Skill Practice at Home

Kindergarten: Practicing number recognition 0-20, rote counting 0-100 starting with any number, following multi-step directions with words like "first", "next", and "last"
 
First: Identify and represent numbers up to 120, recognize the number in sets up to 6 instantly (like recognizing a dice without counting the dots),
following multi-step directions with words like "first", "next", and "last"
 
Second: Compare and order numbers up to 1,200, recall basic facts to add and subtract within 20 with automaticity
 
Third: compare and order whole numbers up to 100,000, recall facts to multiply up to 10 by 10 with automaticity and recall the corresponding division facts
 
Fourth: recall facts to multiply up to 12 by 12 with automaticity and recall the corresponding division facts
 
Fifth: continued practice of recall facts to multiply up to 12 by 12 with automaticity and recall the corresponding division facts and benchmark fraction/decimal relationships

  • Concurrent sessions that allow students to learn about all disciplines of STEAM
