My name is Katie Reeves and I am so excited to be your child's fourth grade teacher this year! I am teaching reading, writing, and social studies. It is going to be a wonderful year full of learning and new experiences! I can't wait to get to know about all of my students, but first- here is a little about me!
I was born outside of Chicago, Illinois and moved to York, Pennsylvania as a young child. I lived in Pennsylvania for over 15 years, and then I moved to Houston, Texas and have been here a little over 3 years now and I love it!
I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach kindergarten through 6th grade, as well as GT (gifted/talented) and ESL (English as a second language) students.
This is my 4th year of teaching and my 1st year at Timber Creek! I'm very excited to be in fourth grade, but I have also taught 5th grade and 3rd grade in Spring ISD.
In my free time I enjoy exercising, reading, and spending time with family and friends. I also LOVE animals (of all kinds) but I don't have any pets yet! I am looking forward to getting to know each of my students and having a fantastic year!

Our end of year party will be next Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30. As we prepare to take our final round of STAAR tests for the year, here are a few reminders going into this week:
1. Make sure your child gets a good night's rest and eats a hearty, protein rich breakfast the next morning! The students are provided with a snack during the test, but with it being so long- we want them to have a full belly :)
2. The students do NOT need to bring a backpack to school on Monday or Tuesday due to the STAAR tests.
3. Please remind your child to focus, take their time, and do their best! We know how smart they are, and this is just a chance for them to show off what they know :)
Monday- Math STAAR
Tuesday- Reading STAAR
If you have any questions, please let me know!
We're almost there......

Talent Show Party

Dear Parents,

We are excited to announce a special treat for the 4th  grade students at TCES. The students will be able to earn an opportunity to participate in a Talent Show Party on Wednesday May 30th.  In order for each child to participate, they will have to earn that privilege by following the guidelines for the Talent Show Party.   The guidelines for the Talent Show Party are as follows:

*Each child will earn this privilege through their conduct.

*Starting on Monday May 7th  – Wednesday May 30th your child’s conduct will count towards earning the Dance Party.

*Students will need to earn 25 compliments and fill their “punch card.”  This will be their ticket to the party.

*Students automatically lose the opportunity to participate if they have an office referral or a bus referral.

*Students will need to be able to perform their talent in the classroom and make sure that it is school appropriate.

This is an opportunity for each child to earn and participate in a fun activity.   We are looking forward to all students participating in the Talent Show Party. Please continue to encourage your child to do their best at school.

                                                   Thank you for your support,

                                                   The Fourth Grade Teachers

This is just a reminder for our field trip on Thursday... if your child is bringing their own lunch from home, please pack it in a brown paper bag or some other kind of disposable bag so that it can be easily thrown away and cleaned up that day. Please do NOT send your child's lunch in their lunch box.
Thank you! :)

Field trip forms are coming home today in Wednesday folders! Ourfield trip will be Thursday April 26th, and we are headed to theSam Houston Memorial Museum in Huntsville!
Please fill out the form and return it as soon as possible!

Thanks :)
This Tuesday, April 10th is our Writing STAAR test! The students have worked hard all year for this and are ready to rock it!
Here are some last minute reminders and things to consider before Tuesday:
1. Make sure your child eats a good, filling breakfast on Tuesday morning and gets a good night's sleep the night before!
2. Do not send them with their backpack on Tuesday. All they need are a couple of reading books for after the test.
3. Students may have a water bottle during the test, but please don't send them with any other drinks or snacks.
4. Please don't forget to send in a letter for your child in a sealed envelope with their name on it. These will be given out Tuesday morning before the test!
Thank you so much for all of your help and support this year with writing. I know the students are ready, and we're all eager for them to show off their skills!
It's that time! Our spring fundraiser, Dash and Bash, is taking place on Friday April 13th! The students are coming home with the envelope of information today in Wednesday folders. There is information inside about purchasing tickets, t-shirt order forms, silent auction, and more.
We are getting excited and hope everyone can come out and join us on April 13th!
Just a reminder- spring picture day is Wednesday March 28th!
Please make sure your child is not wearing green, as it will blend in with the green screen background.

STAAR Shirts!

As many of us watched the Super Bowl and the Olympics, we have been motivated by the Carrie Underwood song “The Champion”.  We are carrying the same theme this spring for growth mindset and STAAR motivation.    This new shirt will symbolize our desire to be unified as champions at TCES!  You may purchase the shirt at:

Deadline to order is March 6th.  Shirts will be delivered to TCES the week after Spring Break.  Thank you for your consideration.  We would love for a “sea of blue motivation” to fill our halls and classrooms during STAAR testing.  Please let Mrs. Cathcart know if you have any questions.

Next week is Read Across America Week! Here is the list of dress up days. We wanted to give you a heads up early, in case parents need more time to figure out an outfit for next Friday.

GT Testing

The Gifted & Talented parent recommendation window for spring testing is now open for students in grades 1 - 5. If interested in testing, please pick up a permission form & parent survey from the front office or send your request for permission forms to sherisims@tomballisd.net. Deadline for receiving recommendations is March 9th. Please contact Ms. Sims with questions. Test results will be available in late May.

We are having a canned food drive on February 14th of next week!We are asking each student to bring in at least 1 can to help usreach our school goal of 592 cans!

If you are able to send in 1 can (or more) with your child next weekon Feb. 14, that would be fantastic!
