About Mrs. Budd

Hello 5th Grade Students and Parents!!
(Click +Subscribe to receive updates ===>)

My name is Kristi Budd and I'm going to have the pleasure of teaching Math and Science for my 5th year at Timber Creek.  A little about myself: I born and raised in Southern California where I graduated from California State University San Bernardino with my Bachelors in Mathematics.  I married my high school sweetheart, Jason. We moved to Texas 4 years ago and we are so happy to call The Woodlands our home!  Together we have 2 kids, Jackson (4) and Kyla (born on 7/11).  Our family enjoys outdoor activities especially soccer;*)

I cannot wait to meet each and every one of you for the 2017-2018 school year!  On July 11th, I had a precious baby girl and will be staying home with her until October 2nd.  Mrs. Scott will be filling in for me during these first six weeks.  She is amazing and I know you all will have a fabulous start to the year with her.  I hope you are ready for an awesome time in 5th Grade Math and Science this year.  Let's make memories <3

Happy Friday 5th Grade!

We are going to be making some changes about what to expect for homework for the remainder of the year.  Yes, we are "Ditching the Homework"!  Instead of  completing a specific set of math or science problems, students will be asked to reflect on what they learned about that day.

  • Main Idea I learned is:
  • Draw a picture/model:
  • How does today's lesson relate to real life?
  • What questions do I still have?

On Fridays, students will complete the diagram that will be filled out each day and then turned in the following Friday complete with their responses.  There may be an opportunity for students to fill it out during class time so it is important that they bring it with them each day.

On the flip side, if you feel that your child still needs to practice a set of math problems in the evening, I will post the pages that they can pull from their textbook to take home on my weekly newsletter.  Please communicate this with your child as it will not be an expectation that I have all students pull the recommended pages.  During the week I will have the key available at all times in my classroom for them to check their answers.

I feel that this reflection part is very important to the learning process and I am so excited to see their reflections.

Thank you so much for your continued support!
