3rd Grade ELA/SS

Image result for 3rd grade

Welcome to 3rd Grade. I am thrilled to be back at Timber Creek this year. This will be my fourth year at Timber Creek and my 9th year of teaching. I  have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade throughout these years. I grew up in the Austin area and am a graduate from Texas Tech University.

My family is very important to me and spending time with them is what I enjoy most. My husbands name is Kevin and I have a two daughters named Brooklynn and Adley. We also have a lab that loves swimming and hunting. Some of my favorite things are the color purple, sports, and eating pizza.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child. We are going to have a wonderful year. Please feel free to contact me anytime with any questions or concerns.

Parents...Friday is the BIG day - Dash and Bash! I am looking forward to a fun day! Just a few notes about the Dash - Color Run that will take place during Specials (2:05-3:00 pm for 3rd grade).
1. Students who ordered a Color Run packet should have received their Color Run shirt, sunglasses and other items. Students who purchased the packet should wear the items to school on Friday.
2. If your child did not purchase a packet they will still participate. The color will likely stain clothing - so please do not send your child to school on Friday in a treasured outfit. Sunglasses can also be worn to protect their eyes.
3. ALL STUDENTS are asked to bring a change of clothes (including socks and shoes) to change into after the dash. We want to limit the amount of color that gets in the building if at all possible.
4. Students will likely come home with a bit of extra "color" on Friday. I read online that washing your body with shampoo often helps remove the color on your skin, hair and nails. Adding a little coconut oil to your hair prior to coming to school can also keep the hair from absorbing the color (**I have not verified these statements...just information I found online).
5. Remember to sign-in at the front office if you plan to watch the students participate. You can pre-register in the front office for the event if you have not already done so.
6. Make plans to attend the Bash from 6:00-8:00 pm. There are lots of great raffle items, silent auction items and fun activities for everyone!

Dash and Bash

TCES Families-

Please note the following information from the campus and PTO:

1) See attached Dash and Bash Silent Auction Guide: Time to make your shopping list!  Our Silent Auction Guide for this Friday's Dash and Bash event is out!!!  See this list for many items that have a "Buy It Now" option and make your plans to get to the auction at 6PM.  All bidding will end promptly at 8:30 pm.  Our bidding typically starts at 35-40% of retail value - so grab these great deals!  Let the fun begin!  2018 Silent Auction Guide Final.pdf

2) DASH Campus Security Measures- Friday, the "Dash" will take place during your child's specials class.  All visitors must present valid ID in order to attend and wear a campus badge while on campus.  All pre- printed badges, for those parents who took advantage of our Google form RSVP opportunity, may be picked up at the field gate from an administrator. Those visitors who did not RSVP will need to sign in and receive a badge from the front office.

3) Color Run AKA the DASH - As PTO has communicated, our DASH this year will be a color run. Students who have purchased the Color Run shirt packet are encouraged to wear their gear for the run. In order to keep our classrooms clean after the run, we are asking parents to send their child to school with a change of clothes. PTO has plastic bags to contain color run clothes and ease bringing them home. If you have any questions regarding the Color Run and your child's participation, please contact your child's teacher.

4) Weather for Friday- PTO and campus administration are monitoring the weather closely. Decisions regarding rain contingencies will be made and communicated by 7AM, on Friday morning. We are keeping a very positive, hopeful perspective that the rain will hold off until after the Bash.

T-Shirt Order

As many of us watched the Super Bowl and the Olympics, we have been motivated by the Carrie Underwood song “The Champion”.  We are carrying the same theme this spring for growth mindset and STAAR motivation.    This new shirt will symbolize our desire to be unified as champions at TCES!  You may purchase the shirt at:

Deadline to order is March 6th.  Shirts will be delivered to TCES the week after Spring Break.  Thank you for your consideration.  We would love for a “sea of blue motivation” to fill our halls and classrooms on STAAR testing.  Please let Mrs. Cathcart know if you have any questions.

School Fundraiser Information: This semester, our school is participating in a unique fundraising program with Art to Remember that gives you the opportunity to purchase keepsake items with your child's artwork on them. The best part is that every keepsake order supports our school.
Order forms for Art to Remember will be sent home with students
and are due back by Wednesday, March 7th. To see available keepsake items like coffee mugs, key chains, and necklaces, visit http://arttoremember.com/fundraising-p…/keepsake-programs/…/
