All About Mrs. Reed

Hello, parents and students! My name is Lindsay Reed. This will be my 16th year in my teaching profession. I am new to Timber Creek, but this is my eighth year in the Tomball school district.

I grew up in Conroe. I have a Bachelor's degree from Lubbock Christian University and a Master's degree from Sam Houston State University. I have taught several different grades and love the experience that each grade has brought to me. I was married in 2008 and moved to the Tomball area. My husband and his parents are both Tomball alumni and have always spoken highly about the school district. My husband and I have 3 beautiful sons that are 1, 6, and 9. My oldest two sons are entering into first and fourth grade and will both be joining me at Timber Creek

I love coffee, brunch, decorating, Mexican food, traveling, reading, and spending time with my family. My family likes to stay busy. We enjoy going into the city and eating good food. We also have memberships at the zoo and the science museum, so we go there a lot on the weekends. And, I love my students and planning fun activities for them!

Hello, everyone! On Friday, we will be completing a project in class. We are studying early Texas missions, so the students will be creating their own model of a mission in class. Because of this assignment, we are requesting that parents send in materials to help us create the missions.

Some examples of materials are: Kleenex boxes, toothpicks, paper towel rolls, sugar cubes, etc. If you need any ideas, please just search for homemade mission projects.

Guided Reading books

Guided reading books are coming home today. In addition to their leveled books, I have also included some questions. These questions are helpful  because they ensure that your child is truly comprehending what they are reading. Please try to ask your child a couple of these questions every time they read. They will keep the book throughout the entire week. On Friday, I will be picking up the bags and replacing them for the following week. Thanks in advance for your help with this work!

Guided Reading

Hello, parents! One of the most important things you can do to help your child be successful is to ensure that they are reading for 20 minutes per night. I will be sending out reading books based on your child's reading level. This is just one resource to help your child with their reading. This is optional, but if you would like for your child to take home a leveled book weekly please sign the blue sheet of paper in your child's Wednesday folder tomorrow. Thanks!

Our Week

Monday (10/12): Social Studies Native American Test (students can use notes)

Wednesday (10/14): Wear Astros Gear or your favorite MLB team

Thursday (10/15): Library Day

Friday

Hello, everyone! Just a couple of announcements.

First of all, there’s still time to order spirit wear! We are now keeping the PTO store open through September 18th. Log on to www.timbercreekpto.org today to order spirit wear and lanyards and join the PTO.

Also, I received a large box of Play-Doh without a note. Thank you to the person that donated this item for our class. I received so many cans that I am going to be able to plan more than 1 fun activity for my kids. I really appreciate you guys so much!

Wednesday Folders

Hello, parents! We have had such a great 2 days and I am enjoying getting to know the kids so much!! They are making me very optimistic for this school year.

Wednesday folders are coming home with your child tonight. This has some papers on information for our class and our school. Please sign the yellow sheet of paper and send it back with them tomorrow. Have a great night!

Materials

Hello, everyone! I hope that you are having an incredible long weekend and enjoying some time with your family.

I am needing supplies for a lesson. I am requesting a donation of Play-Doh for our classroom. Since we are unable to share supplies, I will need 40 cans of Play-Doh. If you are able to donate even a few cans I would greatly appreciate it. I have a large set on my Amazon wishlist, but I will be happy with anything!

Transportation Form

Parents, I have emailed you the transportation form for your child. Please complete this form so we know how your child is going home after school. Thanks!
