Hi!  I am Lisa McKenney. I am new to Texas as well as Tomball ISD!  I am originally from Maine but moved to Vermont when my husband (Mike) obtained a job with Entergy Nuclear Power.  We lived in Vermont for 27 years before moving here to Texas this June due to my husband being relocated to Entergy in The Woodlands.

We have 2 wonderful children.  Tyler (22) graduated from the University of Vermont this spring with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  Lauren (19) has returned to Merrimack College to continue her studies in Exercise Science/Athletic Training.  Mike and I enjoy spending time with both of them flying (Mike has his pilot’s license), motorcycling (both Tyler and Mike drive…Lauren and I ride!), and visiting Martha’s Vineyard for our annual family vacation.

I have been teaching for 31 years.  I graduated from the University of Maine, Orono with my BS in Early Childhood Development/Family Relations and Keene State University with my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.  I have taught grades K-3 with the bulk of my experience in 3rd grade.  Teaching is the perfect occupation for me as I love to learn, enjoy the zest for life and learning that children have, and appreciate the opportunity to continually design/create units and experiences that make kiddos excited about being in school.

My interests are many!  I am an avid sports fan and have loved the Dallas Cowboys for as long as I can remember!  I played a variety of sports in high school including soccer, basketball, softball, and track and I am always up for playing as well as watching a good high school, college, or professional game anywhere!  I enjoy spending time with my family. I also love walking, decorating my home and outside landscape, reading, and the ocean/beach.

I look forward to being part of theTimber Creek Elementary family as a 3rd grade teacher, meeting all of the wonderful families in the community, and having a terrific year ahead!

Nov 2-6 News

Room Parents needed!

The PTO has asked teachers to put put out a request for Room Parents.  Room parents will help with communication, class party organization, organize teacher birthday/gifts, etc.  Even though our current situation prevents parents from being in the building, there may come a time when restrictions are lifted and the PTO would like Room Parents in place if/when that occurs.  2 Room Parents are needed for each class.  Please contact Samantha Herington (tces.vicepres@gmail.com) if you are interested.
I would like to thank you in advance for helping out in this way!  :)

Make sure to see my PTO NEWS page to learn about fun activities that are going on.  The Spirit Night BBQ looks amazing!  Thank you to our fantastic PTO for working so hard to support TCES!

Parade and Virtual Meet the Teacher Info

On the morning of September 3rd, I would love to wave HI to my new students.  If possible, please drive through the car rider lane and wave HI to me between 10-10:30 at the “Pop By and Wave HI'' parade at school.  This event is completely optional.  I will be social distancing from my co-workers (in the grass along the car lane) to provide enough space for each of us to share a BIG SMILE with our new students.  I will have a sign with my name on it and will be waving as you go by.

That afternoon I will be hosting a Virtual Meet the Teacher video conference from 4:35 - 5:05 pm. If you did not receive an email from me with the link to join Meet The Teacher. Please let me know.
