Welcome to 5th grade!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Brenda
Abrams and I'm honored to be your child’s 5th-grade teacher. I am an Iowa
State University graduate and this will be my 33rd year of teaching, but 7th
year in Tomball ISD.

During my vacation, I enjoy spending time with family and traveling. Each year,
we try to visit a new location, but traveling to the warm islands of Hawaii is
still one of my favorites. There is something about listening to the ocean
that makes a relaxing vacation.

My family values education and believes that it opens many opportunities for
the future. My husband and I have two girls that are attending college. Emma,
the oldest, recently finished her Masters Program and is now working on her
Doctorate at Texas Tech University in biology. Kelcie, the youngest, is in
her last semester at Texas Tech University pursuing a public relations degree.
We love them dearly and are very proud of their efforts. So please know that your
child’s best interests are my first priority throughout each and every school day.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her
own full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences this
year with opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead.

 Dear Parents,
With the persistent weather in our area, my thoughts and prayers are with you  and your family during this time. My heart hurts to see pictures of the Timmeron area.
Mr. Abrams and I would like to open our home to you if your family recently had to evacuate.  We have extra bedrooms upstairs and would feel privileged to help you at this time. To reach me, please use my school email and I will check it often.
Be safe!

Hurricane Harvey

 Dear families,
Since TISD canceled classes for Friday and Monday, I've been thinking about my students. I've been able to contact a few of you at home to see if you're safe, but was unable to communicate with the rest. I hope you are doing well despite the weather.
I will be sending out the weekly newsletter on Sunday as promised barring any electricity issues.
During the few days we had at school, I thoroughly enjoyed your children and learned about them with our community activities. I know they love to read genres of their choosing. My afternoon class even cheered when the social studies textbooks arrived. It was such a confirmation of why I love my job.
I wouldn't be a reading teacher if I didn't encourage students to read books. Since we've not been at school long enough to go to the library, I opened  my shelves for the students to choose books. Please check to see if they brought the book home and are reading during our weather days.
Stay safe,
Mrs. Abrams

MyOn Website

All students have taken the MyOn online reading interest inventory which will allow them to read over 5,800 books on any device. I have encouraged your children to continue to read daily throughout the summer. This will help them keep peak performance for when they start 5th grade. Students that participate will also attend the 'Pop' party after school begins in the fall.
Thank you!

This Wednesday will be our last day to check out  and all books will be due this Friday, May 12. Please begin checking throughout the house for missing library books. Report cards will be held if they have outstanding books.
Thank you for your help.

Thank You!

Thank you for your kindness today.   The flowers are beautiful and very much appreciated.  Your children helped place them into a vase (Isabella, Allie and Ellie) and figured out how to mix the flower food.  It was nice part of our Monday morning meeting where we share our events from the weekend and build community.
Thanks again,
Mrs. Abrams
